Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This is a summary of our privacy practices. The full, finalized Privacy Policy text will be posted here once review is complete.

1. Introduction

SwitchbackED ("we", "us") provides special-education data collection and management tools to schools and districts. This Privacy Policy describes how student and staff data is collected, used, stored, and protected within the SwitchbackED platform.

2. Data We Collect

We collect education records necessary to provide the service, including student profiles, goals, objectives, progress and behavioral data, assessment results, and related information submitted by authorized staff. We also collect limited account information (name, email, role) for authorized users.

3. How We Use Data

Data is used solely to deliver and improve SwitchbackED services for the subscribing district, to support educators in tracking student progress, and to meet applicable educational reporting requirements. We do not sell student data to third parties.

4. Data Sharing & Subprocessors

Data is shared only with authorized district users and with service subprocessors required to operate the platform (e.g., cloud storage and AI providers under data-protection terms). AI features are gated by organization policy and require human review before content becomes part of the student record.

5. Data Security

We protect data with encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access control, organization-level tenant isolation, audit logging, and time-limited support access. Platform-managed controls include multi-factor authentication and session management.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Data is retained for the duration of the district's subscription and any configured retention window. Upon contract termination, SwitchbackED will delete all student data for the district within 30 days. Administrators may also initiate scoped data deletion from the Security & Compliance Center.

7. Your Rights

Parents and guardians may submit data access, correction, or deletion requests through their district. District administrators may submit privacy inquiries or data requests on behalf of their organization. Use the in-app contact form to submit any privacy request.

8. Compliance

SwitchbackED is designed to support district compliance obligations (e.g., FERPA, state student-data-privacy laws). SwitchbackED is not certified as FERPA, COPPA, or HIPAA compliant; independent legal and security review is required before any compliance claim is made.

9. Contact

For privacy questions, security concerns, or general inquiries, use the in-app contact form. Submissions are routed directly to the SwitchbackED team.
